The widespread problem of sexual violence and harassment in the workplace came under intense focus in October 2017 with the arrival of the social media movement, “#MeToo”, which arose in response to sexual misconduct allegations against film producer Harvey Weinstein and many other famous male public figures in American entertainment and politics, including Louis C.K., Bill Cosby, and Al Franken. It has profoundly changed the ground rules of dealing with sexual harassment and violence, empowering women to speak up and no longer remain silent.
